TED Talk on gaming

April 8th, 2010 1 comment

I just watched a really interesting talk at TED about how gaming (and gamers themselves) can be a really powerful asset for solving real-world problems. The speaker, Jane McGonigal, goes into great detail at the skills young people are developing, and how now the problem is to find a way to translate those into useful interactions outside of the virtual world.

She also talks about a couple of their projects to empower people to change the world. I’ll post my impressions on that later, but for now I’ll just leave you with the link. Enjoy!

By the way, anyone who doesn’t know what TED is, get over there now! Lots of videos of a lot of very smart people sharing their innovative ideas
